Bethel Chapel, RSPB Shop and Welcome entrance

Bethel Chapel is a historic building, originally built in 1874 before being moved and re-built in 1889 following the flooding of the valley. It currently stands empty and our vision is to restore it into a Visitor Centre, including information about the history, heritage and wildlife of Lake Vyrnwy within it, along with an improved RSPB shop and welcome entrance.

Lower Visitor Hub - Toilet Block

We have a vision for additional changing places facilities which will sit next to the lower hub car park, opposite the children’s play park and close to the sculpture park to ensure accessibility for all and an improved visitor experience.

Disabled Access Footbridge

Our vision is for a disabled access footbridge crossing over the existing weir, linking the lower hub car park, toilets and play park directly to the sculpture park, which will have a covered events space and new sculptures.

Farm training facilities, including accommodation and visitor facilities

Our vision is for a high class training and accommodation facility so that we can deliver agricultural, business and conservation skills, training and internships for young people, aspiring to becoming a centre of excellence for farming and conservation combined.

Upper car park and visitor hub

Our vision is for the upper car park (outside Artisan’s café) to become a short-stay car park, with 7 spaces, a further 3 disabled spaces and a drop-off point for those less mobile. This will ensure improved pedestrian/vehicle conflict as well as enabling accessibility for priority persons.

Lower hub car park

Our vision is for the lower hub car park to become the long stay car park, with a new low gradient path, including viewpoints and a woodland walk, linking it to the upper car park (with some car spaces in between both the upper and lower car park), ensuring accessibility for all and improved visitor experience.

Finding your way around

We plan to improve signage and directional information on site to help people find the car parks, walks and visitor attractions around the dam and the whole lake, ensuring Lake Vyrnwy can be enjoyed for all it has to offer, throughout the seasons.
